The details in the hand

Our team at Manchester Hand Surgeons find everything to do with the wrist and the hand fascinating.

Fascinating because of its intricate design. The detail. The small aspects of how the hand is built, and the components that ultimately work together, in order for our fingers to move and our wrists to bend.

It is this level of understanding and insightful knowledge that enables our team of experts to treat all hand conditions effectively and, most importantly, successfully.

It’s why so many people choose Manchester Hand Surgeons as their private hand surgeon. To take care of the detail. To provide high quality and first-class care, exceptional levels of customer service, and above all to get your hand and wrist back to full working order in no time.

Do you know the composition of your hand?

To put some figures on it, the hand comprises:

  • 34 muscles
  • 27 bones
  • Hundreds of ligaments
  • Numerous tendons, supporting
  • 27 joints, with
  • Nerves and
  • Blood vessels running throughout.

It’s busy!

Building up the palm, fingers, and wrist, helping to create, to us, the most detailed piece of the human body.

Wrist Synovectomy Patient

I am a patient of Mr Hinduja who has recently undergone a right wrist synovectomy. I had been having problems with my wrist for several months and had injections carried out by my GP with no benefit. Upon seeing Mr Hinduja in consultation I could not have been put more at ease. He has a calm, professional manner and he quickly diagnosed my problem. I was sent for a scan and nerve conduction studies which confirmed my diagnosis. I was listed for surgery and could not be happier with the outcome. The pain and swelling in my wrist has completely resolved and I am able to use my arm and hand again as normal.

I could not praise Mr Hinduja enough for the fantastic service I have been given and would certainly recommend him to others.

Mr Kunal Hinduja is very pleasant professional doctor who is very efficient at what he does. I've had 4 operation by him and each one has been a massive success I would definitely recommend him 100% .

Hand & Wrist Surgery Patient

Mr Kunal Hinduja was fantastic I felt at ease as soon as I saw him on my first visit after being in pain for months I knew I had come to see the right person who knew what my problem was. After having MRI scan then another visit for results consultant was correct so had my cortisone injections which I have to say I was so scared about he was so wonderful at keeping me calm and the nurse who was with him. He has a wonderful manner about him explained everything so I could understand. Definitely recommend him and the hospital.

Hand Surgery Patient

Mr Hinduja explained the procedure I would be going through very clearly and answered the questions I had in layman’s language to me.

Dupuytrens Fasciectomy Patient

Clear and concise. I felt reassured that I was in good care.

Carpal Tunnel Syndrome Patient

Iain was very polite welcoming friendly and made me feel at ease. I would like this opportunity to thank Iain so much because after he did both my operations on my hands I have got my life back again and I’m so grateful to him for that.

Trigger Finger Patient

Mr McLaughlin-Simon diagnosed the problem with my hand and expertly performed a carpal tunnel procedure. He explained the options and risks and I felt very confident about going ahead. The procedure was successful, and my hand feels normal again. Shortly afterwards I had a problem with my other hand and that has now been treated successfully. I feel lucky that I was able to be treated by Mr. McLaughlin-Symon and would not hesitate to recommend him if I were to be asked by a friend or family member.

Arthritis Patient

Mr. Ian McLaughlin-Symon was lovely and reassuring. He talked me through my options for pain relief in my hand and we decided on a steroid injection. I had a great experience. I am so pleased and happy with the result of my appointment and ongoing pain relief from my injection. It was made a reassuring and pleasant experience after a year of severe pain. Many thanks for your kind attention. Kind regards
